Austin ‘Barney’ McFadden

Austin “Barney” McFadden of Kingston died June 23 in Poulsbo. He was 82.

McFadden was born to Austin P. and Nora (O’Grady) McFadden in Worcester, Mass. on April 18, 1922, and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester, Mass.

He married Helen D. Rukosky on Dec. 11, 1943 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Navy for seven years, achieving the rank of pharmacist’s mate first class. He then worked in pharmaceutical sales for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1980.

He was a member of the Exchange Club, American Legion and the 76ers Golf Club in Michigan City, Ind.

A service was held June 24 at the Stone Chapel in Poulsbo.
