This week in Spartan sports

This week in Spartan sports begins on the other side of Puget Sound.

On Monday, Oct. 2, Bainbridge athletes will be catching the boat to Seattle for games against Lakeside and Seattle Prep.

The Spartans’ C-Team will get things going in girls volleyball, with play starting at 3:15 p.m. in Seattle Prep’s McHugh Gymnasium.

The junior varsity matchup follows at 4:30 p.m., with varsity action set to start at 6 p.m.

The JV football team heads to Lakeside High for a game at 4 p.m.

The Spartan boys Ultimate Frisbee team is scheduled to play an away game at Magnuson Park at 4:15 p.m. Monday.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Spartan varsity and JV soccer teams will play away games against Bishop Blanchet. The JV matchup is at 5:15 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Spartan girls swimming and diving team will host the always-impressive team from Mercer Island at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center. Races between Bainbridge and MI (second at state last year) start at 3:30 p.m.

Also at home Tuesday, and also at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center, the Spartan boys varsity water polo team hosts Peninsula. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, the Spartans are back on the Rock in a big way.

The boys and girls varsity golf teams host Ballard at Wing Point Golf Course; tee time is 3:30 p.m.

All three volleyball teams are at home to play Eastside Catholic. The C-Team and JV squads play at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity game at 6 p.m. in Paski Gymnasium.

In girls soccer, the BHS C-Team hosts Seattle Academy at 6 p.m.

The Spartan varsity boys water polo team plays at home, as well, at 7:45 p.m. against Mercer Island at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, the BHS duffers are on the road, with the boys and girls playing West Seattle in matchups that both begin at 3:30 p.m. at West Seattle Golf Course.

The Spartan JV and C-Teams host Ingraham in girls soccer at home Thursday, with the C-team game at 5:15 and the JV matchup at 7 p.m. The varsity team will meet the Rams on their home field in Seattle at 4:30 p.m.

The BHS varsity boys water polo team plays at home again Thursday, at 8:30 p.m. against Stadium at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center.

On Friday, Oct. 6, the Spartan varsity football team heads to Sammamish.

Also Friday, the Spartan girls swim team hosts Roosevelt in a meet starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, the Spartan cross country team will race at the Nike Hole in the Wall XC Invitational at Lakewood High School south of Arlington.

The girls will run at 9:40, followed by the boys at 11 a.m.

This week in Spartan sports wraps up with the District 11 Dive Qualifying Event at 9:40 a.m. at the Juanita Aquatics Center.
