Sparty swimmers outrace Roosevelt

The Spartans swamped Roosevelt 119-66 in girls varsity swimming late last week at Evans Pool in Seattle.

Bainbridge won seven races and also took first place in 1-meter diving.

The relay team of Eden Michael, Emma Solseng, Siena Levan and Sydney Sorenson won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.22.

Spartan sensation Margaret Hayes won the 200-yard freestyle with a 3A state championship qualifying time of 1:54.93. Naomi Howard was third for Bainbridge in 2:09.99.

Solseng also finished first in the 200-yard individual medley, with a winning time of 2:20.30.

Amelia Kimball claimed second place for Bainbridge in 2:22.19, while teammate Moorea Eldon-Everts was third in 2:29.25.

The Spartans also went one-two-three in the 50-yard freestyle.

Xaveria Rodriguez was first in 25.70, followed by Sorenson (27.46) in second and Howard (27.62) in third.

Hayes picked up her second win of the night — also with a state championship-qualifying time — in the 100-yard freestyle. Hayes was first in 53.71.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the fab four of Hayes, Sorenson, Rodriguez and Amelia Kimball placed first in 1:46.12.

Annalisia Tuinukaufe won the 100-yard breaststroke for the Spartans, with a first-place time of 1:13.07. Kimball collected second place with a time of 1:14.16.

The Spartan relay team of Michael, Rodriguez, Solseng and Hayes were first in the last race of the meet, and won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:46.70.

Bryn Tiernan won the 1-meter diving event for BI, with a finals score of 204.50.
