Spartans win 2017 Kentridge Invitational

FEDERAL WAY – A Spartan tsunami washed away the competition at the 2017 Kentridge Invitational as the Bainbridge boys swimming and diving team won first place in the annual meet at the King County Aquatic Center.

The invitational featured more than 30 other teams from across Washington, many of them 4A schools, and the Spartans emerged with wins in all three relays.

Bainbridge also had 14 state qualifiers.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the Spartan foursome of Garrett Waite, Kevin Houseman, Makai Ingalls and Jude Wenker finished first in 1:36.49 and set a new meet record.

In 200-yard freestyle relay team of Waite, Houseman, Wenker and Parker Bushey placed first with a time of 1:29.54.

And in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Andrew Witty, Bushey, Waite and Ingalls claimed the meet’s final victory in 3:14.02.

200-yard freestyle, Parker Bushey (1:49.46);

200-yard IM, Andrew Witty (2:02.33);

50-yard freestyle, Makai Ingalls (21.57), Jude Wenker (21.71) and Garrett Waite (22.25);

100-yard freestyle, Parker Bushey (48.69);

500-yard freestyle, Sam Chapman, (4:58.48);

100-yard backstroke, Makai Ingalls (52.53), Andrew Witty (55.15);

100-yard breaststroke, Aidan Wagner (1:01.02) and Max Eyrich (1:02.30); and

11 Dives Qualifier, Kiernan Lieberman (352.25 points).

Bainbridge won the team trophy with a score of 607.50.

Mercer Island was second with 526.50, followed by Issaquah High in third, with 462.

Wenatchee High placed fourth (342), and Kamiak High was fifth (313).
