Spartans standout at home track meet No. 3

The Spartans were head and shoulders — and yards and many, many fast feet — ahead of their guests at their most recent home track meet, which saw athletes from Seattle Preparatory, O’Dea and Holy Names Academy gather on the Rock Wednesday, April 12.

Spartan standouts studded the results on both the boys and girls side of things.

Regarding the boys, Bainbridge seniors Cole Brundige (11.42, a personal record) and Eric Jung (11.81) finished second and third, respectively, in the men’s 100-meter dash.

Senior Wyatt Longley was the first-place finisher in the 200-meter event (23.30, a personal record), and sophomore Evan Kimmerlein (24.51) took fifth.

Brundige (51.59, a personal record) and Kimmerliein (53.48, a personal record) were again way out in front in the 400 (first and third, respectively).

The top Bainbridge boys in the 800-meter dash were Carlo Ruggiero (second, 2:00.39, a personal record), Carter Hall (third, 2:03.06, a personal record), and Kyle Hammer (sixth, 2:05.54, a personal record).

Nathan McVay (4:57.60) and Sean Lindsey (5:06.59, a personal record) managed to finish in the top 10 in the 1600-meter race (seventh and ninth, respectively), and Sebastian Belkin (first, 9:56.39, a personal record) and Jacob Carlson (third, 10:19.94, a personal record) were in the front of the pack in the 3200-meter event.

In the 300-meter hurdles, sophomore Elliott Windrope finished second (45.25, a personal record) and freshman Reuben Allen took fifth (48.96, a personal record). Sophomore Akio Hansen finished eighth (52.53).

The relay team of Brundige, Ruggiero, Kimmerlein and Longley claimed first place in the 4×400 relay (3:31.89). Hammer, Connor Sanford, Leander von Specht and Allen were close behind, in second place (3:55.15).

The best from Bainbridge in the shot put event was Joe Tabisola (ninth, 33-00.00), with Elliot Weaver right behind (10th, 32-05.00).

Tabisola was also the Spartan champ in discus (second, 114-01).

Windrope was the stellar Spartan in the high jump, finishing first (5-04.00).

The top Bainbridge boys in the pole vault were: Bo Baird (second, 12-00.000, a season record), Will Hobbs (fourth, 9-00.00, a personal record) and Conrad Weiss (fifth, 8-00.00).

In the long jump, freshman Ezra Tweiten was the best from Bainbridge (11th, 14-04.00), while, in the triple jump event, it was Hansen (fourth, 31-03.00, a personal record).

On the girls’ side, Marlie Keasler was the top Spartan in the 100-meter dash (18th, 14.25, a personal record), and Emma Brundige (second, 26.27, a personal record) and Ellen York (sixth, 27.89, a personal record) were the top finishers in the 200-meter event.

McKenzie Korican (1:03.25, a personal record), Naomi von Ruden (1:03.99, a personal record) and Hannah Tonsman (1:05.02, a season record) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

Anna Scott (third, 25.90, a personal record) and Naomi von Ruden (fourth, 2:26.68, a personal record) were the best from Bainbridge in the 800-meter run.

In the 3200-meters, sophomore Hannah Tonsman scored the first-place finish with a personal record of 11:43.43.

In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Natalie Taylor was the first-place finisher (16.71, a personal record).

Three of the top five finishers in the 300-meter hurdle event were from Bainbridge: Natalie Taylor (second, 48.81, a season record), Audrey Weaver (fourth, 50.50, a season record) and Elizabeth Messinger (50.60, a personal record).

The relay team of Ellen York, Marlie Keasler, Maria Flynn and Jianna Kauffman finished fourth in the 4×100 relay (55.50), but Bainbridge swept the 4×400 relay event, claiming both of the top two finishing teams: McKenzie Korican, Anna Scott, Hannah Tonsman and Emma Brundige (first, 4:23.34), and Audrey Weaver, Elizabeth Messinger, Julia Brooks and Natalie Taylor (second, 4:32.44).

In the shot put event, it was junior Grace Cisneros who came in first (31-01.50, a season record). In discus, it was sophomore Samantha Anderson (82-05.50).

Junior Emma Chee claimed the top spot in the pole vault, finishing in first place (9-00.00).

Emma Brundige likewise conquered the competition in the long jump event for the Spartans (first, 16-06.00, a personal record).

Bainbridge’s best in the triple jump was senior Maria Flynn (second, 31-00.50).
