Two Spartans earned top spots at the recent Central Kitsap High-hosted wrestling tournament at the Kitsap Pavilion.

Both Sagel Bush and Garrett Swanson placed at the Hammerhead Invitational.

Bush took second overall in the girls 135-pound B bracket, the best placing by any Spartan grappler.

In Round 1, she won by fall over Lilly Iurco (of Hazen) in 1:20.

In Round 2, won by fall over Cynthia Penaloza-Soto (of North Thurston) in 4:34.

In Round 3, however, she lost to Hannah Lew (Union), who won by fall in 1:29.

In the 106-pound boys bracket, Swanson took sixth after being bested by Kelton Gagnon (Klahowya) in 2:09 in the fifth-place match.

Contenders at the tournament also included wrestlers from Cental Kitsap, Eastmont, Hanford, Kingston, Olympic, Port Angeles, Timberline, Thomas-Jefferson and Union, among others.
