Spartans notch one loss, one win in varsity volleyball

The Spartans leveled out last week with a win and a loss in girls varsity volleyball in Paski Gymnasium.

Bainbridge went one-for-one with an early, three-set loss against Eastside Catholic before rebounding to beat Holy Names Academy in three straight late last week.

“Bainbridge is continuing to work on controlling the tempo in each match and reducing unforced errors. They showed improvement with this each match and are looking forward to applying this to the second half of the Metro League season,” noted BHS Head Coach Dominique Atherley.

The Spartans fell to the Crusaders 25-21, 25-14 and 25-16.

Allie Wildsmith tallied 11 kills and three blocks for Bainbridge in action against EC, while teammate Paige Bouma added 11 assists, 11 digs, three kills and one block.

Also coming up big for Bainbridge was Julia Jakubik (five kills, six digs, two blocks, two aces) and Rebecca Roman (seven assists, six digs, five kills, one block).

Against Holy Names, the Spartans prevailed 25-22, 25-17, 25-14.

Jakubik contributed 10 kills and four digs. Bouma added 12 assists, four kills, four digs, and one block.

Wildsmith finished with five kills, four blocks and two aces, and Roman ended the night with seven assists, seven digs, and three blocks.
