Spartans easily handle Bellingham in girls lacrosse

BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans walloped the Warriors as Bainbridge blistered Bellingham 17-1 in the girls lacrosse home opener for BHS Saturday.

Six Spartans scored in the contest, with Sophia Hagstromer leading the way for BHS with five goals.

Teammate Mackenzie Chapman split the posts with four goals, while Kendall Havill and Maggie Sweeney threw in three goals each.

Rounding out Bainbridge’s offensive attack were goals by Hannah Elzig and Eleanor King.

In addition to her proficient scoring, Hagstromer finished with three assists and a caused turnover.

Chapman also earned an assist, along with one groundball, six draws and one caused turnover.

Havill also snagged three groundballs, and had five draws and two caused turnovers.

Inside the net for the Spartans, goalie Thuy Ortiz had seven saves in 50 minutes of play (save percentage: 87.5) in the Spartans’ season debut on the Rock.

Bekah Jensen scored Bellingham’s sole score.

The win pushed Bainbridge’s season record to 2-0.
