Spartan girls face HNA in playoff game

The Bainbridge Spartans girls varsity basketball team will host Holy Names in a playoff game on the Rock Tuesday night in Paski Gymnasium.

The Metro League District Qualifier continues early this week with the Bainbridge-HNA matchup, one of four loser-out battles to determine the four teams that will meet Thursday at Ballard High.

The top two teams emerging from Thursday will square off at Ingraham High on Friday, Feb. 8. Both of those teams will advance to the SeaKing District Tournament.

Holy Names beat Eastside Catholic 58-36 Monday to advance to Tuesday’s game against the Spartans.

In Monday’s other game, Ingraham beat Nathan Hale 50-47. The Rams will now play Rainier Beach on Tuesday night.

Tuesday’s other matchups are Franklin against Lakeside, and Chief Sealth against Roosevelt.

The winner of the Bainbridge-HNA game will play the winner of the Chief Sealth-Roosevelt game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Ballard High.

Bainbridge (9-6 conference, 12-8 overall) entered the Metro Qualifier as the eighth-seeded team, and Tuesday’s playoff game against HNA (3-12 conference, 6-16 overall) gets underway at 7 p.m.
