BAINBRIDGE – Online registration for the 38th annual Bainbridge Youth Services July Fourth Fun Run is now open at www.bifunrun.com.

The beloved holiday tradition will begin once again with a 1-mile run/walk at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, followed by a 5K run/walk at 9:15 a.m. and a Kids Dash event at 10:30 a.m.

All ages and abilities are welcome.

This year’s event will feature a new, streamlined online photo-finish system, which will enable participants to quickly view their results. Registration also will be 100 percent online this year, so participants are encouraged to sign up before the day of the event, though computer stations will be set up to allow participants to sign up using tablets, laptops or mobile devices, as well.

All proceeds benefit BYS, which for more than 50 years has offered free and confidential counseling, scholarships and job services to youth and teens from ages 10 to 21.

“Our ability to directly serve youth annually with free counseling would not be possible without the wonderful partnership between the sponsors and runners who support BYS and the services that so many youth and their families depend upon each year,” said Marina Cofer Wildsmith, BYS executive director.

Back by popular demand, BYS will have a preregistration booth open during the downtown street fair on Monday, July 3. Because of the Winslow Green renovation, however, registration booths will be set up at the Island Fitness lower parking lot on Madison Avenue from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 3, and then again from 7 a.m. to 8:30 the next day.

Event check-in on July 4 begins at 7 a.m. at the Island Fitness lower lot. Ribbons will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place finishers in each race for the male and female categories. All Kids Dash participants receive ribbons.

Preregistration fee for the 5K and the 1-mile race is $25 with an optional T-shirt while supplies last.

The day-of-race registration fee is $30 for the 5K and 1-mile. The Kids Dash fee is $10 with T-shirt, while supplies last.
