GIG HARBOR – The Bainbridge Island Gear Grinders competitive youth mountain bike racing team sent two riders to the winners’ podium after their second race of the season Sunday at 360 Park in Gig Harbor.
Disregarding the classic adage advocating the use of a “slow and steady” method to achieve victory, the Spartans leapt out in front early during Friday’s match against the visiting Bishop Blanchet Braves and then maintained a breakneck scoring pace throughout the varsity lacrosse contest.
Bainbridge remained the top-ranked team in the league following a 14-8 victory over the visitors from Chief Sealth.
The Bainbridge team beat Metro newcomers Ballard High 4-2 in an away varsity baseball game last Wednesday.
The Bainbridge High varsity coed tennis team was bested 8-3 by Lakeside High last Wednesday.
PASCO – Runners from the Bainbridge High School track team travelled to Pasco to compete in the prestigious Pasco Track & Field Invite on Saturday, April 18.
