Islanders help Irish win title

SEATTLE – This year’s O’Dea High School varsity football squad – including six Bainbridge Island athletes – won the 2016 Seattle Metro League Football Championship last week, defeating Garfield High 34-7.

It was the 23rd title in the program’s history.

O’Dea is a private Catholic high school located in Seattle, which many island youths attend. The Bainbridge-based members of the winning football team are Thad Van Winkle II, Conner Gregoire, Griffin Korican, Warren King, Cameron Mikami and Jack Markowiz.
