Do you have a young person you would like to introduce to fly fishing or have them get some practice in prior to heading out to fish this spring?

Well get on line on this: Battle Point Park will host a Youth Fly Fishing Expo from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20.

Fishers and youngsters interested in learning more about fishing will gather at the north end of park near the parking lot. There will be fly-tying and fly-casting clinics, fish-and-stream biology education, casting for accuracy games with prizes and fishing in the pond.

Rods, flies and materials will be provided.

The cost is $15 for youth ages 6 through 17; there is no charge parents (must accompany children 6 through 13). The event is sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District, Trout Unlimited, Bainbridge Island Fly Fishers, Sage and Peninsula Outfitters.

To register or for more information, contact the parks district at 206-842-2306, ext. 1.
