BHS wrestlers roar to 2-0 win in West Seattle

The Bainbridge High School varsity wrestling team returned home from a doubleheader in West Seattle doubly victorious Thursday, Dec. 20, scoring wins against the host school and Chief Sealth.

First, against Sealth, the Spartans scored a 53-24 win.

Harrison Cate won by forfeit in the 106-pound bracket for BHS.

Fellow Spartan Garrett Swanson (113-pounds) pinned Tasa Hong in 2:39, while Hiram Topham (120) pinned Lance Serquilla in 3:19, and Levi Field-Bennett (126) pinned Sohan Cook in just 46 seconds.

Sealth’s Isaiah Irungu (132) pinned Sagel Bush in 3:02, and CS’ Michael Ladrielle (138) scored a win by forfeit before BHS’ Oleg Maguire (145) pinned Champ Putman in 5:42.

Spartan Doug Takada (152) pinned Sean Wong in 35 seconds.

CS’ Lucas Lopez (160) won by forfeit.

Then, Bainbridge’s Caroline Michaels (170) won by forfeit, and Sealth’s Isac Mohammed (182) won by forfeit.

BHS’ Julian Blythe (195) also won by forfeit.

Bainbridge’s Tyler Pickett (220) pinned Bill Nguyen in 28 seconds, and finally a double forfeit negated the 285-pound bracket.

Later, against West Seattle, Bainbridge again finished victorious, 51-15.

The Spartans scored four forfeit wins, and double forfeits negated two brackets (182-pounds and 285-pounds).

BHS’ Harrison Cate (106-pounds) pinned Aeshan Badri in 1:53 and Hiram Topham (120) won a 19-16 decision against Casey Maxwell.

Westside’s Ryan Arik (138) won a 11-4 decision against Cameron Williams.

Oleg Maguire (145) pinned Calvin Nguyen in 2:05, Doug Takada (152) pinned Sam Holman in 33 seconds, and Ben Dunscombe (160) pinned Alejandro Morales in 5:35.

Finally, West Seattle’s Dominic Nieto 170) won by forfeit, and Myles Gannett pinned BHS’ Julian Blythe in 1:40
