BHS rocks Roosevelt in baseball beatdown

SEATTLE – The Spartans’ Garrett Aichele threw six innings worth of shutout ball before Roosevelt rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

It still proved not enough, though, as Bainbridge prevailed 8-3 Thursday, April 20 at Lower Woodland Park in boys varsity baseball.

Bainbridge got the scoring started with six runs in the top of the second inning; the last run knocked in by Brooks Wallace’s double.

Overall, the Spartans banged 11 hits, including five for extra bases.

Aichele, Jack Niehaus and Tad Grindeland had two hits apiece, with the big blow being Grindeland’s solo home run in the fifth inning. Aichele allowed only two hits over six and 2/3 innings on the mound, and struck out five.

The Spartans thus improved their record to a Metro League best of 10-1.
