Bainbridge kicks Kingston to the curb, 13-2 in baseball

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High varsity baseball team improved its record to 8-3 overall in a nonconference outing against neighboring Kingston High Saturday, April 15.

The Spartans’ 13-2 victory was supported by 12 hits — seven of them for extra bases, said BHS Co-head Coach Bill Ackerley.

Garrett Aichele led Bainbridge with three hits, including two doubles and four runs batted in, while starting the game by pitching two innings of shutout ball.

Aichele was followed on the mound by the varsity debuts of freshmen Jonah Giblin and Jonathan Kussie.

Ben McDonald, Tad Grindeland and Matthew Spence each contributed two hits and collectively had four runs batted in.

Also knocking in a run in his varsity debut was freshman Jasiah George.

Next up for the Spartans were the Ballard Beavers earlier this week, as Bainbridge enters the final two weeks of its regular season with eight Metro league games scheduled, including five in one week.

The balance of the Spartan home games, Ackerley announced, will be played at Sands Field due to the havoc the rainy season has had on its traditional home field, which remains unplayable.
