Bainbridge diver wows at Nationals

Kiernan Liberman of the Bainbridge Island Diving Club competed in the USA Diving Junior Olympic National Championships.

The championships were held on July 29 through Aug. 1 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Kiernan competed in the 14-15 boys 1-meter springboard event, and placed 16th with a score of 283.05.

In the 3-meter springboard event, the Bainbridge diver placed 30th with a score of 264.60. And in the platform event, Kiernan he was 17th with a score of 242.40.

Club officials note he is the first diver from Bainbridge to compete at Nationals in more than eight years, and the first ever to compete in all three events.

He was also the highest ranking diver from Washington state at the competition. Kiernan will be a sophomore at Bainbridge High School this fall.
