Sports Briefs | Bainbridge softball shuts out Bishop Blanchet

Softball

The Spartan fastpitch team blanked Bishop Blanchet in a double header April 30.

Haylee Baker, who will take the mound against state runner-up Holy Names Tuesday, earned her fourth win in the first game of the double header as the Spartans rolled 11-0. Baker gave up just one hit and struck out seven with one walk.

Cali Moore batted in two runs, going two-for-two from the plate. Erin Kinney tripled with three RBIS and a run.

In the second game, Reichert threw a no-hitter as the Spartans won again, 11-0.

Caitlin McCormick went two-for-three with two doubles and three RBIs.

The second-ranked Spartans host No. 4 Holy Names in a state championship rematch Tuesday. Bainbridge will travel to Holy Names for their last game of the regular season Wednesday.

Baseball

Bainbridge lost to Bishop Blanchet 14-3 April 30. The Spartans, who are out of the playoff race, will get two chances to topple reigning state champion O'Dea at home Tuesday and on the road Wednesday.

Soccer

The Spartans fell to O'Dea 2-1 April 29 and tied with North Kitsap 1-1 May 1. With the loss, Bainbridge slipped to ninth in the 3A state rankings, and North Kitap moved up to fifth.

The Spartans (7-3-4) have lost three of their last five contests and will finish the regular season at home against Bishop Blanchet and Eastside Catholic on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

Track and field

The Bainbridge track and field teams lost their respective meets to O'Dea and Holy names Thursday.

The boys team scored 42 points to O'Dea's 96. The girls team finished with 23 points and Holy Names with 23.
