Tennis | Bainbridge avenges early-season loss to Seattle Prep

Nate Parker, the Spartans' No. 3 boys singles player, clinched the deciding point as Bainbridge edged Seattle Prep 6-5 Monday.

Jacob Christiansen and Mark Scott went the distance, sneaking past Seattle Prep's Britan Richardson and Evan Beckman 7-6(5), 7-5.

The win evens the series between the two teams, as Seattle Prep bested the Spartans in their season opener 10-1 in March.

The win also marks the first time the Spartans have defeated Seattle Prep in nine years.

Bainbridge swept the girls singles matches. Grace Porter continued her undefeated streak at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 in over Barbara Ann Carey.

At No. 1 singles, Sasha Carter dispatched Katie Beyer 6-0, 6-0.

The Spartans split their girls and boys doubles matches, with the mixed doubles team of Jack Pendleton and Jenna Knell falling in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

Bainbridge (8-1 overall, 6-1 in league) has won six consecutive Metro duals.

The Spartans travel to O'Dea Wednesday and Bishop Blanchet Friday.
