Bainbridge, the defending 3A state champion, fell to North Mason 2-1 Monday.

The Spartans took the 1-0 lead in the first inning, but North Mason answered with a run in the second.

The Bulldogs added another run in the bottom of the sixth for the 2-1 lead.

The Spartans, who committed four errors to North Mason's two, failed to convert on their nine hits.

Senior Lauren Reichert recorded the loss, throwing six strikeouts in six innings.

Junior Clara Dunn and sophomore Hailey Willmann both went two-for-four from the plate with a double.

Bainbridge's home opener against Franklin Wednesday was cancelled. The Spartans will take on Central Kitsap Thursday and host Rainier Beach Friday.
