Bainbridge gymnasts win 115th straight

Just three days after scoring their highest point total of the season, the Spartans almost recorded another season-best performance Friday. The Spartans earned 160.25 points to Mercer Island’s 98.9 for their 115th consecutive regular-season win in a five-team meet against Mercer Island, Sehome, Bellingham and Squalicum .

Senior captain Katie Mathews took second in the all-around with an overall score of 33.3, placing first in the floor routine with a personal-best score of 9.4 and taking second on the beam.

Junior Anne Schwarz placed first on the vault and sophomore Megan Duncan took second.

Rachel Kaminer and Talia Weiss tied for second on the bars with 7.4.

1. Tori Franzen, Sq. – 33.45

2. Katie Mathews, Bain. – 33.30

3. Anne Schwartz, Bain. – 32.65

4. Rachel Kaminer, Bain. – 32.05

5. Adrienne Palay, Bain. – 30.80

6. Talia Weiss, Bain. – 30.20

The Spartans resume league competition against Ingraham and Holy Names at Nathan Hale on Jan. 8.
