Spartans finish 12th in state meet

In their first appearance since 1998, the girls cross country team placed 12th in the 3A state championship meet Saturday afternoon in Pasco. Bainbridge scored 251 points, led by Emily Barreca's 31st place finish with a time of 19 minutes, 43 seconds.

"We're all really pleased with our times," coach Anne Howard-Lindquist said. "We beat some good people. We have some people who are excited to come back next year too. We're happy especially for our seniors who got to state."

The Spartans' seven runners averaged 20:40 in the race.
