The soccer team defeated Lakeside 2-1 in the Metro League playoff semifinals Tuesday night for a spot in the Metro playoff championship and a state tournament berth.

Bainbridge took a 2-0 lead over with goals from Lauren Silvers and Amy Vukic. Lakeside scored its only goal the 78th minute.

The Spartans (4-3-3) will face Holy Names (5-3-2) in the Metro championship at Seattle Memorial Stadium Thursday. The teams split their two matches this season.

Regardless of Thursday's result, the Spartans have earned a berth in the state playoffs as one of the top two teams from the Metro.

If the Spartans win Thursday, they will play their first state tournament match at Memorial Stadium 7 p.m. Nov. 10.
