Cross country

Saturday, the Spartans travelled to Port Angeles for the three-mile Salt Creek Invitational. Several Bainbridge runners placed high on both the boys' and girls' sides.

Willie Wenzlau had the top time for the boys and placed within the top 50. His time of 17 minutes, 10.23 seconds was fast enough for 48th place. Junior John Murphy and freshman Brenden Willerford finished second and third for Bainbridge, and 106th and 108th overall, with times of 18:34.10 and 18:42.80.

Three girls finished in the top 10 overall for Bainbridge, led by senior Emily Barreca, who finished fourth overall with a time of 18:52.37. Isabel Ferguson was only a couple seconds behind Barreca, placing fifth with a time of 18.54.01. Senior Annie Taylor clocked a time of 19:07.06, good for ninth place overall.

Bainbridge next takes on Bishop Blanchet, Cleveland, O'Dea and West Seattle in a league meet Thursday at Lincoln Park in Seattle.

Soccer

Bainbridge scored its third straight win in a 2-0 shutout over Olympic High School Saturday.

Neither team scored a goal in the first half, but in 54th minute, Christina Crowley broke the tie. In the 75th minute Bryton Wildsmith added an insurance score, hitting on a pass from Morgan Moniz.

The team takes the field again Tuesday when it hosts Ingraham at 6 p.m.
