Both the volleyball and golf teams started their seasons with victories Tuesday.

For the second consecutive year the volleyball team kicked off the year with a win, defeating North Mason in three games, 25-15, 25-15 and 25-16. Offensively, Jo Shea led the way with six kills. Camille Moore provided most of the setups, totaling 13 assists. She also added six aces. Cali Moore was the team's other big server. She had five aces and added five digs, helping to shore up the defense.

The Spartans (1-0, 0-0 Metro League) next host Olympic, a team they defeated last year, Thursday at 6 p.m.


The golf team, which finished second in the state last spring, came out strong against Seattle Prep Tuesday, winning the match 112 Stableford points to 70.

Anna Bourland led the way for the Spartans, shooting a nine-hole score of two-over 38. She parred eight of nine holes.

Julia Gross had three pars, Peyton Lunzer had two, and Jasmine Shattuck had one.

Following their victory over Seattle Prep, the Spartan golfers have their next tee time Monday at 3 p.m. against Franklin at Jefferson Park Golf Club in Seattle.
