Poloist named All-American

Former Lady Ray star Erin Clune, now a junior at Siena College, won an All-American Academic award as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches recently.

In order for a student-athlete to qualify for the ACWPC All-Academic Team they must be a regular member of an institution’s varsity water polo team and carry a 3.2 grade point average or higher.

“It is a great accomplishment for Erin to have made the All-American Academic Team,” said head coach Ellen Howe. “We are excited for the honor.”

Clune, a political science major, holds a 3.37 cumulative GPA. She is a three-time member on the All-American Academic Team. Clune played in 22 games last season, scoring three goals and one assist.

In 2008, the Saints qualified for the MAAC Tournament for the first time in program history.
