BHS wrestlers suffer three-fold

KINGSTON - Double trouble? More like triple trouble.

The Bainbridge High varsity wrestling team lost matches to North Mason, North Kitsap and Kingston High during an away meet at Kingston High School earlier this week.

In the first round of matches on Tuesday, Jan. 14, BHS fell 60-18 to North Mason.

There were some strong finishes by several Spartans during the meet, however.

Jack Miller pinned his opponent in 3:27 for a win in the 138-pound class, and Dylan Read pinned N. Mason’s Morgan Grewell in 3:45, winning the

160-pound class.

Myron Butler also scored a win for BHS by forfeit in the 120-pound class.

In the second round of matches, Bainbridge was bested 39-27 by North Kitsap.

After a double forfeit in the 106-pound class, Spartan grappler Butler claimed the first win for Bainbridge after he pinned Marcella Wieto in 5:29 in the 120-pound class.  Jonathan Gallivan pinned his opponent in 3:46 for a Bainbridge victory in the 126-pound class.

Miller won by decision in the 138-pound class with a final score of 1-0 over the Vikings’ Nikitta Weston.

Read also won by decision in the 152-pound class with a final match score of 2-0.

Liam Topham won a victory by decision in the 160-pound class with a final score of 4-1 over North Kitsap’s Will Reed. Spartan heavyweight Mike Grant pinned his opponent in 3:17 for a win in the 182-pound class.

In the third and final round of matches, BHS was stopped 50-16 by Kingston.

Gallivan pinned his opponent in 1:07 for a Bainbridge win in the 126-pound class. Miller also managed to pin Kingston’s Tommy Dowd in 1:32 in the 138-pound class and Aaron Jumpa won the 152-pound class with a 8-6 decision.
