Spartans annihilate Franklin for this year's first football win
The usual Spartan football story was turned on its head when the Bainbridge High varsity team crushed Franklin High with a final score of 59-14 at their final game at home Friday, Nov. 1.
According to Spartan Head Coach Andy Grimm, the win is a just reward for the team's hard work and continued improvement this season.
"It was a big push for them to get rewarded," he said. "For their work and for hanging tough, it didn't have to be a blow-out win tonight just to get that."
Bainbridge led 31-14 at the end of the first half, and had extended their lead so commandingly that by the end of the fourth quarter Grimm took advantage of their position and played several junior team members.
"It was great," Grimm said. "We got everybody in, so it was the reward to those younger guys because it's been tough to get them in."
This win, of the team's first post-season game, marks the first win for the Spartans this year.
Their current season record is 1-8 overall.
The Spartans play their final scheduled game on the road Thursday, Nov. 7 against Washington High.
