Bainbridge rower has last home race
Seattle University women’s rowing hosted the University of Portland at the Seattle Rowing Center in their first and only home race of the season.
Seattle University’s Varsity Eight narrowly finished second to the Pilots with a time of 7:23.3 to the visitors’ 7:21.44.
Sinclair Ball of Bainbridge Island competes for the SU Redhawks in the 3 seat.
The SU Varsity Eight is filled out by cox Jolie Kawasaki (Honolulu, Hawaii), stroke Hana Wilder (Portland, Ore.), 7- Kaitlyn Hammond (Billings, Mont.), 6- Darian Borst (Milwaukee, Wisc.), 5- Audrey Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo.), 4- Olivia Amrhein (Phoenix, Ariz.), 2- Katie O’Neill (Ventura, Calif.), and bow Keara Collins (Seattle).
“We had some good but challenging races today,” said interim head coach Jennifer Park.
“I thought all the girls really pushed it. We know what we need to do this week to get ready for WIRAs next weekend,” she said.
The Redhawks Novice 8+ and Novice 4+ also finished second in their respective races.
