Bainbridge Island Review

Bainbridge blanks Lakeside in softball

April 19, 2013 · 9:47 AM

The Spartans skinned the Lions 19-0 in girls fastpitch softball earlier this week in Seattle.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. The Spartans needed just two innings, however, to put the game well out of the reach of Lakeside.

Bainbridge nearly knocked the stitches off of the ball with six runs in the top of the first, and the big bat attack continued with five more runs in the second.

The Spartans brought another run home in the third for a 12-0 advantage, and the Bainbridge players got another tour of the infield with a five-run fourth inning.

Katie Raben pitched the first three innings and kept Lakeside hitless while picking up nine strikeouts. Deahna King finished out the game on the mound for the Spartans and kept the Lions from scoring.

Natalie Allen led the Spartans from the plate. She went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.

Kate Kinney went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Erin Kinney went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
