Good night, Knights - Spartans win 13-1

The Bainbridge Spartans battered Bremerton 13-1 in boys junior varsity baseball at Legion Field in Bremerton.

Bainbridge scored a run in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 advantage into the third.

After tacking on two more runs, the Spartans went on a five-run tear to lead 9-0.

Bremerton picked up its only run in the botton of the seventh.

Max Thomas went 2-for-3 for Bainbridge; teammates Garret Riely and Gareth Grindeland both went 1-for-2.

Grindeland finished with three RBIs for the Spartans, Chase Lehotsky had a double and two RBIs, and Duncan McCombs, Ian O'Keefe, Max Thomas and Trent Schulte all had one RBI. Thomas also dinged a double for the Spartans.

Duncan McCombs picked up his first win on the mound this season for the Spartans, and pitched four innings. He gave up just two hits and struck out four batters.
