Sports Roundup -- Sailors take Port Angeles
June 9, 2008 · Updated 8:19 PM
Bainbridge varsity sailed against Port Angeles March 31, in a fleet race regatta that showcased their skills and boat speed in the Vanguard 15 class boats.
The winds were light to moderate and decidedly shifty, challenging attention to conditions.
An unequal number of boats on the water led to a complicated swapping system, and scoring of performance by average of finishing places.
Bainbridge clearly outsailed the home team and the averages for the top finishers out of 20 sailors were as follows:
George Fleischfresser (1-1-1, average 1)
Molly Jackson (1-2-1, 1.33)
Maddie Jackson (1-2-2, 1.67)
Garrett Linrothe (3-1-2, 2)
Jenny Erickson (4-2-1, 2.33)
Andy Freeman (1-1-3-5, 2.5)
Robbie Osterman (2-3-5, 3)
Emma Hartmann (3-5-3-2, 3.25)
Peter Mann (2-3-5, 3.33)
Top finisher for Port Angeles was Glen Stellmacher (4-5, 4.5), followed by the others in the PA fleet.
