Five swimmers speed into finals

Five Spartans have advanced to the state 3A Swimming finals.

Leading the Spartans in Friday's preliminary rounds at the King County

Aquatics Center was sophomore Jake Santelli, who swam to sixth place in the

100-year backstroke (54.26) to advance to Saturday's finals. In the 200 IM,

Santelli finished in ninth place (2:04.61) to advance to the heat B finals.

Senior Jacob Whitmore came in 15th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.30) to

make it into the heat B finals.

Senior Nate Rooks’ time of 5:06.53 in the 500 free secured him a 15th-place

finish and a place in the heat B finals.

Also advancing was the 200-yard relay team of Tristan Stringer, Russell

Carrol, Whitmore and Rooks, who placed 12th in the prelims.

Finals begin 5 p.m. Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center.
