Spartans stumble against Franklin, get set to play Juanita Rebels in first district game

Franklin finished the Spartans' two-game winning streak in the Metro League tournament with a 61-33 victory in girls basketball in Seattle Thursday.

The Quakers controlled from start to finish, and jumped to a 11-6 advantage after the first quarter and a 29-18 lead by halftime.

Franklin continued to pour it on in the second half, and scored 16 points in each quarter while limiting Bainbridge to just 15 points in the half.

Three Quakers scored in double figures; Jasmine Horne (19), Raven Bruleson (17) and Savanna Reid (16).

Grace Kenyon led Bainbridge with 18 points.

Paige Brigham added six, and Maddie Ketcheside finished with four for BHS.

Julie Feikes contributed three points, and Sydney Severson had two.

The loss dropped the Spartans to 8-7 in the Metro, and 13-9 overall.

Bainbridge will face another big challenge in the girls' next game.

BHS will host the Juanita Rebels at Bainbridge High for the Spartans' first game in the Sea-King 3A District Tournament Saturday, Feb. 9.

The Rebels have a KingCo record of 11-3 (15-7 overall) and have won five of their last six games.

The team is led by All-KingCo first-teamers 6'3 sophomore Jaisa Nunn (10.9 ppg) and 5'7 senior Mikayla Jones (9.5 ppg).
