Nathan Hale stops Spartans in Metro League matchup

Nathan Hale held Bainbridge to just six first-quarter points to take control early in the game as the Raiders ran to a 61-40 win in the Metro League boys basketball tournament.

Bainbridge bounced back in the second to outscore their hosts 12-11 in Thursday's matchup in Seattle.

Nathan Hale still lead at halftime, however, with a five-point advantage that put the gap at 23-18.

The Raiders again held the Spartans to another six-point quarter in the third, and then unloaded with another 23 points in the fourth.

Gadisa Margarsa of Nathan Hale led all scorers with 22 points, and the Raiders had a total team effort with eight players posting points.

Bainbridge was paced by Oskar Dieterich, who had 17 points.

Fellow Spartan Nick Edens added 14 points, while Joey Blacker added nine.

Bainbridge was scheduled to play Bellevue in Bellevue Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Spartans' first game in the Sea-King 3A District Tournament.
