Nine members of the Bainbridge Girls Lacrosse Club joined their teammates on the Puget Sound Select 2013 and 2015 teams at the annual Sand Storm Invitational.
The pre-season tournament was held in Palm Springs, Calif. on Jan. 19 and 20, and the Bainbridge contingent included four members of the Bainbridge Spartan's 2012 Washington state 3A high school championship team.
Now in its sixth year, the Sand Storm Invitational draws strong competition from both coasts. Girls lacrosse teams representing more than 20 states competed at this year's event.
Bainbridge senior goalie Madeline Stevenson, junior Sally Marx and sophomore Paige Brigham played for Puget Sound Select 2013 in the top bracket, winning two of four competitive games, and losing by one point to Bear Lax 13 Blue, who went on to win the entire tournament.
Puget Sound Select's 2015 team included Bainbridge players Cappy Yarbrough, Truman Flynn, Mackenzie Scott, Robin Hilderman, Riely Meidell and Ellen Carpenter. The U15 team played a tough slate of four games over the two-day tournament as well.
