Seattle Prep lived up to its take-it-to-the-rack reputation and outplayed the Bainbridge Spartans 79-58 Friday in boys basketball.

Prep, currently ranked at No. 2 in 3A teams in Washington, set the tone early in the Metro League matchup at BHS.

The Panthers jumped to a 14-8 first quarter lead, and held the Spartans to another 8-point quarter in the second to lead 33-16 at the half.

Bainbridge shot reasonably well in the first quarter against one of the state's top teams, hitting on 3-of-7, though good looks at the basket and second-chance scoring opportunities proved elusive.

The Panthers connected on 5-of-13 shots in the first, and senior 6'6 shooting guard D.J. Fenner hit 3-of-5, including a three-pointer, to spark Seattle Prep.

Prep continued to fire on all cylinders in the second quarter, with five players scoring on 7-of-11 shooting.

Bainbridge's offense in the first half came from Joey Blacker, with six points; Oskar Dieterich and Nick Edens, who contributed four points each; and two points from the free throw line, courtesy of Trent Schulte.

The Panthers carved out an even larger lead after a high-scoring third quarter.

Prep put another 29 points on the board, with Jack Roger, Angelo Marchesini, Mark Caindec and Laurence Hick all drilling shots from Three Point Land, and the Panthers hitting an impressive 11-of-18 shots from the field.

The Panthers led 62-34 going into the fourth, and Bainbridge made the game seem much closer than it was with a 24-point quarter on 6-of-13 shooting.

Dieterich paced the Spartans with 14 points.

Edens added another 13 for the Spartans, and Blacker contributed 12.

Blake Swanson scored 10 points, Schulte had six and Nile Gibbs added three.

Prep's Fenner led all scorers with 28 points.
