Spartans beat Braves by one point

The Spartans survived a fourth-quarter challenge to beat Bishop Blanchet 52-51 in a girls basketball barnburner Wednesday in Seattle.
The Braves led 14-11 after the first quarter, but the Spartans’ stout defense put Bainbridge up by two points, 22-20, by halftime.
Bainbridge outscored Blanchet 17-14 in the third to claim a 39-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Braves hung around, and outscored the Spartans 17-13 in the final stanza. It wasn’t enough, however, as Bainbridge sealed the deal in the fourth for the one-point Metro League win.
Seven Spartans scored in the contest.
Grace Kenyon was high scorer for the Spartans and finished with 15 points.
Julie Feikes contributed nine points, while Paige Brigham added eight for BHS.
Maddie Ketcheside and Sydney Severson had seven points each, while Kate Usellis scored four and Emilie Miller added two.
Micah Lussier of Bishop Blanchet led all scorers with 17 points.
