Bainbridge buries Ingraham in Metro boys basketball

Bainbridge exploded in the second quarter to upend Ingraham 66-47 in boys basketball Friday in Seattle.

The Spartans led the Rams 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, then outscored Ingraham 25-11 in the second for a 38-21 halftime advantage.

"We had a dynamite second quarter led by Blake Swanson leading the break and finding open teammates," said Bainbridge Coach Scott Orness.

"We went 11/11 from the field in the second quarter and Joey Blacker hitting three of his four three-pointers for the game," he said.

Blacker racked up 17 points in the first half and Oskar Dieterich added 12 points.

Nick Edens, who had seen limited action due to a partially torn MCL, also figured big in the win. He finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.

"This was Nick's first full game back after his knee injury," Orness said. "He did a great job and contributed in a positive way for the team. He ended up going 6/9 from the field."

It was a good shooting night for the Spartans, to put it mildly.

Bainbridge went 27-of-40 from the field and was 5-of-8 from beyond the three-point line.

On the other end, the Spartan defense held Ingraham to 18-of-58 shooting from the field.

Blacker was high scorer for Bainbridge, and finished with 23 points.

Dieterich contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds for BHS.

Blake Swanson dished seven assists in the Spartan victory.

The Spartans next face Bishop Blanchet on the road on Tuesday, Jan. 8 before returning to the island for another Metro League matchup on Friday, Jan. 11 against Seattle Prep.
