Will DiIorio is back in action.

DiIorio saw his first time on the basketball court for the Washington State Cougars in last week’s Cougar Hardwood Classic since he sprained his left ankle against Gonzaga on

Dec. 5.

The Cougar Hardwood Classic was Dec. 21 at Key Arena, and Washington State came from behind with 7:02 to play to beat Buffalo 65-54.

DiIorio, a Bainbridge High School graduate, played 19 minutes and finished with six points and an assist.

The former Spartan has been taking the court for the Cougars for two years.

“I like the program, I like the community,” he said. “I like the atmosphere around Cougar athletics. It’s a great family.”

Now in his junior year, the 6’5” guard is looking forward to his third season on the team.

“Every year it gets better,” DiIorio said. “All the teams in the Pac 12 are always really good.”

“We also play Kansas this year,” he added of the top-ranked Jayhawks, now at No. 6 nationally. “That will be one of our challenges.”
