Everyone wins at Hoopfest
Four Bainbridge kids won the 3rd-4th grade bracket at Hoopfest for B.E.S.T. on March 5.
Ivy Terry, Isabella Todd, Sallie Marx and Maddie Ketcheside defeated several teams in the 3-on-3 tournament held at various schools.
Its their second year of participating in Hoopfest.
They got beat up by the fourth-graders last year, but they learned how to beat the press and the double team, said Jeff Ketcheside. They played really well as a team. I was really proud of them for being good sports.
The four also play on the Blakely Rebounders, a Kitsap County Parks & Recreation team that is undefeated with two games to go.
Sailors tackle tough regatta
Twenty-three sailboats from the central sound area participated in the Jim Depue Memorial regatta hosted by the Port Madison Yacht Club on Feb. 25.
The boats sailed a 16.5-mile course via Port Monroe, Jefferson Head, West Point, then back to Port Monroe for the finish in light winds and partial sunshine.
The race is the first of the West Sound series with each of the area clubs taking turns as host to the six-race series. This kick-off race is traditionally named in memory of Jim Depue, former PMYC Commodore and strong sailing supporter. Port Madison sailors have a tradition of big turnouts for this event.
