BHS competes at Spartan Shootout
December 8, 2012 · 9:54 AM
Eighteen members of the Bainbridge High boys lacrosse team recently competed against some of British Columbia’s best teams in the annual Spartan Shootout in Victoria, B.C.
The tournament, held Nov. 16-18, was hosted by Claremont’s top-ranked field lacrosse team and featured a showpiece Friday Night Lights-style game on Nov. 16 between Claremont and Bainbridge Island.
Visiting teams included New Westminster, Charles Best, Delta and Vancouver College, as well as teams from Mercer Island and Bainbridge Island representing Washington state.
Claremont Coach Darren Reiseg said the tournament was “more of a chance to get some competition and games in rather than worry about who is winning/losing. That being said, after some modifications due to weather and travel most, if not all, teams were able to get at least four and up to six games played.”
Reiseg also noted it “was great to get teams from the south up as it adds a different flavor to the tourney for the BC teams.”
