Spartans swat North Kitsap in girls basketball

Bainbridge bounced back from a sluggish first quarter and exploded in the second on the way to a 79-38 win over North Kitsap Monday night in girls basketball.

The Vikings took a 13-9 lead in the first quarter, but Bainbridge battled back to outscore North Kitsap 22-9 in the second to forge a 31-22 advantage by halftime.

The Spartans held the Vikings to just eight points of scoring in both the third and fourth quarters, and BHS outscored North Kitsap 37-16 in the second half.

The Spartans' Grace Kenyon led all scorers with 27 points.

Sydney Severson chipped in 12 points for Bainbridge, and Maddie Ketcheside and Kate Usellis contributed seven points each. Julie Feikes and Nancy Karreman both finished with five points, while Sydney Gibbs added three.

It was the second consecutive home win for the Spartans, who will place twice more on the island this week.

Bainbridge next plays Central Kitsap Wednesday, Dec. 5. Varsity game time is 7 p.m.

The Spartans also face Chief Sealth at home Friday, Dec. 7. Tipoff is 8 p.m.
