Mavericks end Spartans’ season

November 9, 2012 · 9:52 AM

The sensational season for the Spartans girls soccer team came to an end in a heartbreaking penalty kick shootout against Meadowdale in the first round of state playoffs Wednesday.

Rosie Kerstetter gave Bainbridge the lead in the 26th minute with a goal to put the Spartans up 1-0, but Emily Crichlow answered for the Mavericks in the 53rd minute.

With the game tied at 1-1, Meadowdale connected on all five of their penalty kicks — Bainbridge hit only three — as the Mavericks held on to win 5-4 in the shootout.
