Spartans to face Camas in first game at state tourney

The Spartans fastpitch softball team will play the Camas Papermakers Friday in Bainbridge's first game at the Class 3A state softball tournament.

The Papermakers (10-2 regular season, 14-1 overall) clinched a berth at state by beating Bonney Lake 9-3 in the quarterfinals of the 3A West Central 3/Southwest Washington 4 Bi-District Tournament.

Camas comes into the district as a number-one seed because of the Papermakers' victory over Kelso in district play.

The Bainbridge-Camas game is at noon Friday, May 25 at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.

Opening ceremonies for the state tourney are at 11 a.m.

The winner of the Bainbridge-Camas game will play the winner of the Mountain View-Juanita game at 4 p.m. Friday.

The loser of the Bainbridge-Camas contest will head to consolation play to face the loser of the Mountain View-Juanita game at 2 p.m. Friday.

The top four teams play at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the championship game to follow at 2:30 p.m.
