Shea leads BHS to ninth win in boys lacrosse
This time, 22 proved to be the magic number for the Bainbridge boys lacrosse team.
The Spartans nabbed their ninth win in boys Thursday with a 22-10 win against Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma.
The game, the finale for the regular season, put the Spartans within three games of Mercer Island and Lake Tapps, which are tied for the Southwest Conference lead.
Bainbridge blasted out to an 8-0 lead in the first and added eight more in the second for a commanding 16-3 lead at the half.
Bellarmine battled back in the third, and outscored the Spartans 3-1.
In the final frame, the Lions found the goal four more times, but it wasn’t enough as Bainbridge closed with five of its own.
Greg Shea paced Bainbridge with five goals, an assist and six ground balls, while teammate Jake Knostman had four goals and four assists.
A total of eight Spartans scored in the win: Kaegan Ingrasci added three goals (plus two assists and three ground balls); Sean Maier scored three goals (one assist and two ground balls); Dain Weisner added two goals (one assist, two ground balls); Jason Ashton scored one goal (one assist, one ground ball); Erik Nimb added a goal (one assist); and Jackson Larkin added a goal (three ground balls).
Bellarmine Prep was led by Garrett Stockdale with five goals, an assist and six ground balls. Jacob Bolek had three for the Lions.
Bainbridge wrapped up the regular season with a 9-10-0 record; Bellarmine Prep finished this season's campaign at 5-8-0.
The Bainbridge girls lacrosse team closed out its season with four games where the Spartans tallied 22 points.
