Undefeated Spartans hammer Bishop Blanchet

The Bainbridge High Spartans scored early and often Saturday in winning their first Metro League football game this season 63-7 over Bishop Blanchet in Seattle.

The Spartans improved to 4-0 after hitting the Braves (2-2) with a strong overall performance, including: three touchdown passes by Chris Bell (two caught by Cameron Brink and one by Tyler Mikami); Bell ran (37 yards) for three of the Spartans running touchdowns; Joshua Fitch scored on a 60-yard interception return and Aaron Nordberg had a 32-yard fumble return for a touchdown; and Alex Coplan scored on 92-yard kickoff return.

BHS scored 14 points in the first quarter and led 35-0 at halftime. After the Braves made the score 42-7 with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, the Spartans scored the final 21 pointsThe Spartans return to BHS Stadium on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Seattle Prep, which is also 4-0 after defeating Eastside Catholic 28-15 last Friday.

Bainbridge has three regular-season games remaining after this Friday, including:

Friday, Oct. 7 – North Thurston at BHS, 7 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 14 – BHS vs. O'Dea at West Seattle Stadium, 7 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 20 – Eastside Catholic at BHS, 7 p.m.
