Get ready to run with all-comers

(A correction was made to change the starting date.)

The All-Comers meet, now in its 17th year of existence, will start in a different location this year.

Founder Jim Whiting said the opening meet will be at 6:30 p.m. July 11 at the Woodward Middle School track due to the renovations being done at the high school field.

The first four or five meets will be held at Woodward until the work at the high school is completed. Whiting hopes to return to the high school by Aug. 5.

The meets are at 6:30 p.m. every Monday starting on the 17th and run through Aug. 29. The event is sponsored by Bainbridge Self Storage.

Anyone who is interested in running can enter, with no experience required. The age groups start at 3 years old and under by gender and go up in age from there.

The events are the 50 meter dash, the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, the 400 meter run, the 800 meter run, the jogging or running mile where the winner is the closest to his or her predicted time and the 4x100 meter relay. The 60 meter step hurdles will also return, after Whiting found it was a hit with the kids.

“They just loved it,” he said.

Whiting is still looking for volunteers. For more info or to help, email jimruns3@gmail.com.

Results will be published in the Bainbridge Review and will be available on Whiting's website at jimwhiting.com.
