Two harriers qualify for state meet

Two Bainbridge cross-country runners qualified for the state meet Thursday at the 3A Sea-King District 2 meet at Lake Sammamish State Park.

Signe Lindquist took fourth with a time of 20:02 while Isabel Ferguson took 15th with a time of 20:27.

Other finishers for the girls were Courtney Harper with a 37th place finish at 21:33, Anna Misenti with a 41st place finish at 21:39, Pearl Terry with a 44th place finish at 21:44, Joli Holmes with a 63rd place finish at 22:16 and Courtney Odell with a 68th place finish at 22:34.

"We missed going to state by a bit, but we're a real young team so we'll be back next year," cross country head coach Anne Howard-Lindquist said.

For the boys, they took ninth with 230 points. No runner qualified for state.

Tyler Cox was the top finisher for the boys with a time of 17:27. He finished in 41st place.

Tomas Delgado was 42nd with a time of 17:28 while Sean LaBelle was 47th with a time of 17:39. Davin Fitzgerald was 49th with a time of 17:41.

Austin Harper was 51st with a time of 18:13 while Payten Marsh took 52nd with a time of 18:14. Brendan Willerford was 68th with a time of 18:56.

"It was a really good day for our guys," Howard-Lindquist said. "Many of them set personal records and getting down into the mid-17's, which is a quality team."

The 3A state meet is in Pasco at the Sun Willows Golf Course.
