The Spartans defeated 4A Newport 4-0 Tuesday, thanks to goals from Morgan Moniz, Natalie Vukic, Kelly Crane and Emma Vukic. They salvaged a tie at Central Kitsap Wednesday when Rosie Kerstetter scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Moniz. Bainbridge finished off the week with a scoreless draw against 4A Redmond Thursday.
Bainbridge crushed West Seattle 7-1 Monday, thanks to a hat trick from Natalie Vukic and two goals from Moniz, but lost to 4A Eastlake 2-1 on Tuesday. Natalie Vukic had the lone goal. The Spartans were blanked by Seattle Prep 2-0 Thursday.
Bainbridge hosts Eastside Catholic Tuesday.
The Spartans dropped a 3-1 match to Central Kitsap Monday by the scores of 20-25, 19-25, 25-11 and 17-25. Sarah Dacquisto led the way with 10 kills, 11 digs and five aces while Nina Mutty had 10 kills. Erin Kinney had 24 assists and Emma Burgess had 17 digs while Cali Moore had six aces.
But Bainbridge rebounded Tuesday to outlast Holy Names 3-2 by the scores of 25-20, 26-28, 23-25, 25-20 and 15-13.
Dacquisto had 12 kills, 11 digs and two blocks while Mutty had 12 kills and 14 digs.
Kinney had 37 assists and seven digs while Moore had five kills and 16 digs.
Bainbridge hosted Seattle Prep Thursday, but results were unavailable as of press time.
The Spartans travel to Bishop Blanchet next Tuesday.
Boys and Girls Golf
The boys golf team defeated Nathan Hale 148-85 last Friday at Wing Point. Davis Harrison was the top shooter for the Spartans with a even 35. Will Whealdon and Kris Thompson shot a one-over 36 while Bobby Griffin, Carl Jonson and Adam Pool shot a two-over 39.
The girls golf team defeated Franklin107-21Monday.
Julia Gross and Jasmine Shattuck were the leading scorers with 29 Stableford points, while Maddy Devlin had 25 points and Annika van Houte scored 24.
Both teams travel to Ingraham Monday.
Boys Water Polo
Team Ray defeated Kentridge 12-9 at home Friday in the season opener.
Down 3-0 in the opening moments of the game, Ray fought back to eventually tie it at seven going into the fourth quarter. They outscored the Chargers 5-2, with Jared Bell, Grant Dunaway, Colin White and Blake Harper all contributing. Bell led the way with seven goals.
Team Ray played Bellevue Thursday but results were unavailable as of press time.
Bainbridge will participate in a Fall Invitational tournament Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center.
Both teams made strong showings in the first Metro League meet of the season at Lower Woodland.
For the girls, they finished on top with 24 points.
Isabel Ferguson came in first with a time of 21:05.
For the boys, they came in second behind Seattle Prep.
Sean LaBelle was the Spartans’ top scorer with a fifth place finish with a time of 18:23.
The Kitsap Water Blossoms, a non profit synchronized swimming club team, is offering free introductory classes to kids from the ages of 7 to 18 for the months of September and October. The lessons are for new swimmers who are interested in the sport and possibly joining the team.
